[Beginning of transcript]
↳ Hello everyone!
Welcome to another episode of All Paths Lead to Aroma.
↳ Today we will study 5 more ingredients and, from there, continue to 'feed' our olfactory diary.
These episodes are among my favorites; studying ingredients is one of the things I enjoy doing most; something I find truly fascinating.
↳ For those who have just arrived here, without having watched any of the previous episodes:
An olfactory diary consists of my personal listing of the perfumery ingredients I study, through descriptive sensory/olfactory notes of them.
↳ If you want to know more about vanilla, ylang ylang, rose absolute, neroli essential oil and lavandin, listen to episode 003.
In episode 009, I covered sweet orange essential oil, cedar essential oil, pink pepper essential oil, cis-3-Hexenol and galaxolide.
In episode 012, I smelled benzyl salicylate, veramoss, cedramber and ethylene brassylate for the first time.
In episode 016, petitgrain, eugenol, ambroxan, hedione, and bergamot essential oil.
In episode 019, lemon essential oil, cassis base, stemone, iso e super and florol.
↳ Today, we will get to know geranium essential oil, vetiver essential oil, Ionone Alpha, coumarin and maltol better.
↳ The first ingredient I'm going to smell is Geranium essential oil — from the floral family, in the rosy sub-family, a heart note and which is diluted to 10%.
↳ Geranium essential oil smells like rose water — that's the first thing that comes to mind.
That is, a floral, rosy, delicate, powdery, slightly metallic and very fresh scent.
↳ The second ingredient I'm going to smell is Vetiver essential oil — also from the woody family, a base note and which is diluted to 10%.
↳ What stands out most when I smell Vetiver essential oil is the aroma of peanut, of dried fruits; it smells, in fact, very earthy; warm, dense, quite round.
↳ The third ingredient I'm going to smell is Ionone Alpha — from the floral family, a heart note and which is diluted to 10%.
↳ Ionone Alpha has a lipstick aroma — it smells like the lipsticks my mother used when I was a child; it's also a very powdery aroma, of old things; and, even so, it can be said to be floral too.
↳ The fourth ingredient I'm going to smell is Coumarin — from the amber family, a base note and which is diluted to 1%.
↳ Coumarin smells like bitter almond, yes the drink; this is because coumarin is a molecule present in almonds; it therefore has a very sweet, warm, round scent; it is quite familiar and pleasant.
↳ The fifth (and for today last) ingredient I'm going to smell is Maltol — from the edible family, a base note and which is at 1%.
↳ Maltol smells like cotton candy, burnt sugar; a very complex, sharp aroma.
↳ I invite you to study perfumery ingredients, and to create your own olfactory diary.
For me it is an extraordinary experience that never ceases to surprise.
↳ Thank you for listening to this episode of the podcast 'All paths lead to aroma'.

I will leave the respective link in the notes of this episode.

Good olfactory experiences!
