Where do you ship to?

We ship to mainland Portugal and the islands, and to all countries in the European Union.

How long does delivery take?

We ship the order within 48 hours of payment confirmation, and then delivery may take an additional 48 hours to reach its destination.

What if I don't like the perfume I bought?

For each perfume you buy, you will also receive a small sample of it, so you can test it. Do not open the perfume packaging without having tried the sample. You will then have 14 days to make a free return, if you wish.

What is the cost of returns?

Returns are free of charge. You will have 14 days to return the product for free, provided it is sealed, meaning it is in the same condition as on the delivery date.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept the following payment methods: Shop Pay; Visa; Mastercard; American Express; Maestro; Union Pay; Apple Pay; Google Pay; Bancontact (Belgium); iDEAL | Wero (Netherlands); Klarna; Multibanco.

How can I track my order?

You will receive a tracking number so you can follow your order.

How to choose the right perfume?

Whether it's a perfume for your skin or a perfume for your home, the best way to choose one of our products is to think about what you want to feel when you apply it. Each fragrance creates a unique, distinct atmosphere.

On each product page, you will find a description of the product, so you can choose the perfume that suits your taste/desire.

How do I know if I'll like the perfume?

Choosing perfumes from an online perfumery can be challenging, as scent is a very personal experience. At Jarilo, we try to help in three ways:

• Detailed aromatic/sensory descriptions.
• Personalised email recommendations.
• Each purchased perfume is sent with a sample of the same.

We recommend always testing the sample first, i.e., before opening the perfume packaging. And if you don't like it, you can return it for free within 14 days.

Can I request recommendations for free?

Yes. Just send us an email to geral@jarilo.pt requesting recommendations. We will chat with you to understand your taste and suggest something suitable.

Can I test perfumes before buying?

Jarilo currently operates predominantly online. To allow you to confirm in person that you have chosen a product suitable for your taste, we include a small sample of the perfume with each order. This way, you can test the perfume before opening the main package.

Can I return an opened perfume?

No. For hygiene reasons and product integrity, we only accept returns of perfumes whose original packaging has not been opened and/or compromised. That's why we always include a small sample of the perfume sent with each order, so that the customer can test the product without opening the main packaging.

Do perfumes last a long time on the skin?

The longevity of a perfume depends on several factors: skin type, materials used, fragrance concentration, climate, amount applied, etc. The experience regarding the perfume's longevity will always be different from person to person.

How to apply perfume to make it last longer?

To enhance the aromatic performance of the product, you should:

• Apply perfume to hydrated skin.
• Also apply perfume to clothing.
• Reapply throughout the day as needed.
• Avoid the common mistake of rubbing the skin (wrists) after applying.

Are the perfumes sold original?

Yes. All perfumes sold at Jarilo are original, acquired directly from their brands and/or authorised distributors.

Why are scents important?

Olfactory culture is essential to human society. A simple fragrance can completely transform a space, helping to evoke and consolidate memories and intrinsically altering our mood.

At Jarilo, we advocate the use of perfumes as tools to demystify and enrich the everyday experience.

Do Jarilo candles really smell when lit?

Yes. Our aromatic candles are formulated to scent the environment both when cold (unlit) and when hot (lit).

How long does a lit candle last?

The durability of each candle depends on several factors, such as:

• The size of the candle.
• Whether the wick is properly trimmed between uses.
• Whether the candle had time to form a melt pool during the first burn.
• Etc.

On each product page, we indicate the estimated hours that the candles may approximately last.

How should I use the candle for the first burn?

The first burn is very important for the candle to start burning in a controlled/uniform manner. The candle should be allowed to burn until a pool of melted wax forms around the wick. This will help prevent the so-called "tunneling effect."

Should I trim the candle wick?

Yes. Before each use, we recommend trimming the wick to about 5mm. This helps maintain a stable flame and prevents excessive smoke.

Are the candles handmade?

Yes. Jarilo candles are handcrafted in our studio, in small batches.

What type of wax do you use?

We use coconut wax, rapeseed wax, and olive wax, all of which are plant-based.

Are the fragrances used in the candles natural?

The fragrances are mixed media: they can combine natural materials and safe, authorised synthetic molecules. This allows us to create more original, complex, and stable candles.

At Jarilo, we also do not engage in "fear marketing" and we know that synthetic materials, if authorised by competent authorities, are factually safe.

What is Jarilo?

Jarilo is a brand of artisanal candles (both aromatic and neutral) and also a perfumery that offers a curated selection of perfumes from less mainstream brands.

Our goal is to help our customers use perfumes that suit their identity and personal taste, and to learn to celebrate olfactory culture.

What does “olfactory culture” mean?

“Olfactory Culture” is a body of acquired knowledge, customs, traditions, beliefs, artistic, intellectual, and spiritual manifestations of a person, a group, a people, a society and/or nation, situated in a specific place and/or period, as it relates to the sense of smell.

Simply put: "Olfactory Culture" is a term that describes the importance of odors, smells, aromas, fragrances, and perfumes in human life, across different societies around the world.

Just as we have the art(s) of entertainment and, for example, gastronomy, we also have a variety of cultural experiences linked to smells. Smells are part of our cultural identity, which, moreover, depends on the social contours in which we live, as well as each individual's personal experience.
