I have always been, and increasingly, passionate about perfumes, truly fascinated by the naturally intrinsic, quite subtle, power with which an aroma can alter our sentimental perception of the world, reconstructing the notion of the space that immediately surrounds us.
Therefore, I consider each perfume as a very powerful tool, a key instrument that amplifies our human experience of everyday life.
I remember as a very young child, carelessly mixing rose petals and alcohol to see if I could create a scent that would appeal to the nose. The mixtures invariably resulted in thick, unpleasant smells. My mother would tell me not to be sad, because creating perfumes was a very difficult miracle.
In 2010, I found myself graduating in food engineering, and I have worked in the area of food safety to this day, specifically in the wine market; an area in which, coincidentally, smell is almost as important as in perfumery.
In 2020, the pandemic happened to us all. I spent a long time at home, working from home; and in that time, my last and final perfume, a generous gift I had received the previous Christmas, ran out in its last and final drop.
Since I always buy a different perfume, and since I can't go out and choose the next one in a couple of stores, I started researching online, browsing from virtual store to virtual store. And then the magic of the internet happened, and I discovered dozens of niche brands that I had never heard of before, hundreds of raw materials, where and how they are produced, etc., etc., etc.
