↳ Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of Todos os Caminhos Vão Dar ao Aroma.
↳ Last week we talked about how to choose a perfume — so, it makes sense this week to talk about how to combine a perfume with our mood.
↳ Yes, because I believe that perfumes can be great allies to positively influence our own mood.
↳ And, as usual, I'm burning a Jarilo candle — this time it's the AcquaViva scented candle, which has a very green and fresh fragrance and helps me both deal with this summer heat and improve my attention.
↳ As you may have noticed, there are days/occasions when we feel more comfortable wearing a fresh perfume and others when we clearly prefer warmer scents.
Such variations in our preference are directly related to the general weather on a given day — but many times these variations are directly linked to the functioning of our own psychological realm — that is, they are intimate preferences, intrinsic preferences, originated within emotions, that is: our momentary preference for a certain type of aroma functions as an emotional symbol, which truly represents what we are and/or wish to feel.
↳ It is, in fact, a complex issue — involving climate, emotion, and intention.
↳ For example, whenever I go for a walk in a more natural place, with a green landscape, I always use perfumes with notes of freshly cut grass, and in that aromatic-emotional context, my favorite [perfume] is Philosykos by Diptyque.
↳ Although I've been told that this scent has [colloquially] a strange smell, it's a perfume that makes me feel very energized in terms of good emotions — I feel a strange and very welcome happiness when I wear it on my skin.
↳ Citrus, green, aromatic perfumes [but Morza, defining/describing a certain perfume with the word 'aromatic' wouldn't be comparable to the redundancy of saying 'climb up'———?] are great when we want to feel energized/happy — more expansive.
↳ More minimalist perfumes, from the musk family, which smell clean, act like a second skin and allow us to calm down and refocus.
↳ Opulent perfumes with jasmine, rose, and vanilla are generally used for more romantic/sensual occasions or where one wants to show some dominance, such as in an important business meeting.
↳ Out-of-the-box perfumes, bolder and less mainstream, are perfect for moments where creativity and inspiration are immediately needed.
↳ Sweet perfumes, with so-called edible notes, are perfect for those nostalgic days when we need to feel welcomed, comforted.
↳ These suggestions are just a guide for us to experiment, because what really matters is our own subjective experience.
Imagine [for example] which intense floral perfumes are very comforting and calming for you — and which perfumes with lavender notes make you feel more sensual ease.
↳ What matters is how each/certain perfume makes you [personally] feel.
↳ I also reinforce the message I conveyed in the previous episode:
We don't need to have a quantitatively immense collection to elicit distinct emotional moments within ourselves.
↳ Keep for yourself that Olfactory Diary [which I have talked about so many times] in which you will record your various/determined emotions when using each perfume.
↳ Allow yourself, moreover, to use a perfume simply because you consider that it makes you feel good emotionally — even if no one else understands your taste, your preference, your choice.
↳ A perfume we wear can change/shape our day, that is: by altering our aromatic-emotional context, we reformulate the way we relate to ourselves and to the world.
↳ All this is not limited to perfumes — it also applies to scented candles, soaps, shampoos, etc.
↳ During this week, choose a perfume [or an aromatic combination] per day, according to your mood or the feeling you want to awaken in yourself.
Then record the experienced emotions in the Olfactory Diary:
Describe how you felt and what improvements in your daily life were noticed.
↳ Wearing a perfume is not just an aesthetic choice:
It can [and should] be a tool to improve our mood, as I have explored here.
But it can also [and should] serve as a means of self-expression.
↳ Perfumery — just like clothing — is also a second skin we wear — it's a way of communicating with the world, of expressing ourselves.
↳ And also a form of self-care.
For example, I love wearing perfume even when I'm at home, even when I'm alone.
Wearing perfume makes me feel more self-represented, and turns any mundane moments into something more special.
↳ In the next episode, we will study and record 5 more ingredients — and I will continue to give body to my Olfactory Diary.
↳ Thank you for listening to this episode of the podcast 'Todos os caminhos vão dar ao aroma'.

↳ I would like to inform you again that at JARILO we have launched a free ebook — the complete guide where you can learn all the tricks to enhance the aromatic diffusion of your candles.
I will leave the respective link in the notes of this episode.
↳ Send me an email telling me what perfume you use when you feel sad or need a hug.
↳ See you next time.
Good olfactory experiences!
