↳ In today's episode, I return to the segment — Home fragrances — Creating a room spray — this being part III of it.
↳ Part I was covered in episode 017, where I began to conceptualize and develop a ROOM SPRAY for my brand JARILO.
The idea is to create a ROOM SPRAY that is fresh, that energizes the ambiance of the rooms in the house.
↳ Part II was covered in episode 021, where I focused on choosing possible materials for the ROOM SPRAY formula.
↳ And today, in this part III, I will finally create the ROOM SPRAY, combining the materials with each other.
↳ The first thing I did when I was about to start combining the materials was to review the ingredients I had chosen in episode 021.
One thing that caught my attention is that the formula could be much simpler.
↳ I always prefer to start with a simple formula and, from there, gradually make it more complex, as I understand how the ingredients interact with each other.
↳ So I decided to simplify everything.
↳ The ROOM SPRAY will continue to have a CITRUS ACCORD but — instead of being formulated with ORANGE EO, LEMON EO, BERGAMOT EO, and PETITGRAIN EO — it will now be formulated only with ORANGE EO, LEMON EO, and DIHYDROMYRCENOL.
↳ With this change, I can also obtain the citrus part and the freshness and lightness, but with a very simple accord, formulated with only 3 materials.
I removed BERGAMOT and PETITGRAIN — because I didn't want other ingredients to overshadow ORANGE and LEMON in this accord.
↳ When I smelled this first, reformulated accord, I immediately felt the effervescence of the citrus, the crystalline facet of ORANGE and LEMON, the transparency of DIHYDROMYRCENOL.
↳ I also changed the GREEN ACCORD — which was going to be CASSIS BASE, STEMONE, and CIS-3-HEXENOL — and reformulated it with only CASSIS BASE and STEMONE.
I removed CIS-3-HEXENOL because it is a very pungent material and I was afraid it would overshadow the CASSIS BASE.
↳ As for the WOODY ACCORD — which was going to be ISO E SUPER and CEDRAMBER — I changed it to ISO E SUPER and HEDIONE.
I removed CEDRAMBER because it is a very present woody scent, but with ISO E SUPER the wood arrives more subtly.
↳ As for the FLORAL ACCORD — which was going to be CITRONELLOL, FLOROL, HEDIONE, and NEROLI EO — it was completely replaced by the accord I also used in the segment A PERFUME TO EVOKE SPRING — that is, I opted for the FLORAL ACCORD with the following ingredients: PEA, ETHYLENE BRASSYLATE, and METHYL PAMPLEMOUSSE.
↳ The CITRUS ACCORD and the FLORAL ACCORD are in the same proportion and double that of the GREEN ACCORD and the WOODY ACCORD.
The proportion was therefore 2 of the CITRUS ACCORD to 2 of the FLORAL ACCORD to 1 of the GREEN ACCORD to 1 of the WOODY ACCORD.
↳ The first impressions of this HOME FRAGRANCE — or rather, ROOM SPRAY — were very very positive.
I loved it, this is exactly what I intended from the beginning.
It's a perfume with a lot of energy, very positive, refreshing, light.
As I mentioned in a previous episode, my conceptual vision for this perfume is that it should be like an orchard suddenly transplanted into my living room.
I really think that, little by little, I am managing to fulfill this vision.
↳ Over the next few weeks, I will daily test this ROOM SPRAY, to evaluate its aromatic performance in my home, more specifically in the living room — on the fabric of the curtains and sofa.
↳ One problem I anticipate right away is that, due to having sweet orange essential oil, this perfume has an orange color and may stain fabrics.
So, I will first have to test it on a loose piece of fabric that can serve as a guinea pig, that won't be harmed if stained, to see if this will indeed be a problem to solve, or not.
↳ In the next episode, I will return to the segment 'Creating a personalized perfume (for someone special)' — consisting of the third part of it.
↳ I would like to inform you again that at JARILO we launched a free ebook — the complete guide where you can learn all the tricks to enhance the aromatic diffusion of your candles.
I will leave the respective link in the notes of this episode.
↳ Thank you for listening to this episode of the podcast 'All paths lead to aroma'.

↳ See you next time.
Happy olfactory experiences!
