This article is the transcript of EPI 033. 2025 Review — What I learned in a year of podcasting and what 2026 will bring

↳ This is the inaugural episode of 2026, and I want to share with you what I learned during the first year of the podcast and my plans for 2026.
↳ 2025 was very special for me because it started with the launch of this podcast, which has become one of my favorite projects. It's something that has made my learning in Perfumery much faster and deeper. I was inspired to create 'Todos Os Caminhos Vão Dar Ao Aroma' after listening to another podcast where they talked about learning: they referenced a study that said the fastest way to learn is to teach.
↳ That's when I decided to create this project, a podcast where I try to share my experiences in Perfumery in a confident and natural way, with the personal goal of learning more quickly.
↳ And that's what happened, both theoretically and practically — I started 3 parallel projects during this first year of the podcast:
↳ I started Perfume To Evoke Spring, I started the citrus Room Spray, and also the project A Personalized Perfume For Someone Special.
↳ And these three projects helped me a lot to unlock a few problems I had:
↳ When I started studying Perfumery, I initially felt very afraid to use up materials and so I saved them too much.
↳ On the other hand, I also didn't make much progress because I was still very stuck on the initial intransigence, typical of Perfumery Theory.
↳ But these projects I started here made me realize that you learn by using material, by getting your hands dirty, without limiting ourselves, experimenting again and again until we get what we want right.
↳ Knowing materials isn't just about how they smell, but also, and above all, about how they interact with each other: what textures they add, how they evolve over time, etc.
↳ Another thing that was positively surprising was that my writing improved, the way I learned to express myself better, to communicate my message better.
↳ Although all episodes are reviewed by Ricardo (the person for whom I am making that Personalized Perfume), I feel that it's increasingly organic for me to write: it's increasingly simple to translate some complex perfumery topics into simple and accessible words.
↳ Written communication had never been my forte; my background in Food Engineering always makes me want to translate any idea into flowcharts or tables.
↳ It was [not so much a flaw but at least] a gap in my communication, and I notice that, little by little, it is being improved.
↳ I greatly missed the main goal, which was to have managed to release one episode per week, about four episodes per month.
↳ Instead of the 52 episodes initially planned, I only released 32.
↳ I underestimated the time it would take to write the episodes, and the fact that Perfumery projects also take time to be conceived and prepared, and that editing episodes also requires some degree of attention and commitment, despite being very simple.
↳ Not to mention that I also underestimated unexpected setbacks, big or small: the obstacles and mishaps of everyday life that always arise without warning, forcing us to change our schedule.
↳ But instead of feeling disappointed, I will adapt the goal to reality: deciding that for 2026 I will release episodes fortnightly.
↳ But this without absolute rigidity, meaning, it may happen that I release more episodes than planned, if the need and opportunity to do so coincide.
↳ The goal will be to maintain consistency — an episode every 15 days without fail.
↳ In terms of episode cataloging, I chose to consider the end of 2025 as the end of the first season, and therefore 2026 corresponds to the second season.
↳ On a personal level, and therefore sharing a little about my private life, I am proud to say that 2025 was marked as the year I definitively quit smoking, and also reduced my coffee consumption to the essential, having also started a diet and a respective nutritional re-education.
↳ Quitting tobacco and dieting were two goals achieved which, although they have nothing to do with the podcast or Jarilo, make me feel that I am closer to the resolute and good decision-maker Mariana who is essential to lead these two projects.
↳ I mentioned the 3 projects started and I intend to finish them all in 2026 and, following that, start at least 2 more.
That is: I intend to create a personalized perfume from me for me and another perfume that is still a secret.
↳ Regarding the growth of the Jarilo brand, I intend to increase our offer — with a collection of Room Sprays and carrying out a curation of other perfume brands. I also want to be closer to customers and the Jarilo community. I finally want to put a face to the project.
↳ I invite you to share with me (via comments on social media and also by email) how your 2025 went and what intentions you have for 2026. What perfumes you used, which scented candles you lit the most, and whether or not you started your olfactory diary.
↳ I wanted to thank everyone who listened to this podcast: I know it's a niche topic, in fact, it's the niche of the niche, but I also know that there will be many people like me, deeply interested in the magical world of Perfumery. We just need to find each other and share our aromatic experiences. I wish you all a happy and prosperous year 2026.
↳ I remind you that at Jarilo we launched a new collection — the Four Elements Collection. I will leave the respective link in the episode notes.
↳ I will also leave the link to our WhatsApp community. Here you can access exclusive offers and news.
↳ Thank you for listening to this episode of the podcast 'Todos os caminhos vão dar ao aroma'. If you liked it, don't forget to subscribe — share with friends — leave a comment — or send an email to todososcaminhosvaodaraoaroma@gmail.com.
↳ Until next time.
Happy olfactory experiences!
