↳Welcome to the first episode of the podcast "All paths lead to aroma". Here we will explore the world of perfumery and try to discover how perfume is made.
↳I'll start by explaining where this desire to know how perfume is made came from.
↳It was 2020 and I couldn't leave the house when my perfume ran out, so I tried to buy one online. I found it very difficult to choose a perfume without trying it first, and I started researching various perfumes and brands.
↳Until I discovered a website called Wikiparfum, which is a database of perfumes, and I found out that there were hundreds of brands and dozens of types of perfumes I had never heard of and had never seen in any perfumery.
↳I was amazed. I, who loves perfumes so much that I rarely leave home without wearing perfume, knew nothing about the subject, so I continued to research and try to understand how I could learn more about perfumery.
↳Through this research, I became aware of several perfumery courses. The classic courses in French schools for those who want to pursue a traditional career as a perfumer, but also alternative courses for the curious like me.
↳It was in 2021 that I started the online course Experimental Perfume Club, where I was able to begin learning about raw materials, accords, and formulation techniques. Since then, I have been exploring perfumery and trying to create my own perfume.
↳In 2023, I created Jarilo, a brand of handmade scented candles that I hope will also become a perfume brand in the future.
↳I decided to launch the podcast today, January 6th, Epiphany, to mark how perfume and aroma have been present in our cultures for thousands of years. The Magi offered Jesus Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh. Both frankincense and myrrh are notes that we find in perfumes to this day.
↳This was an introduction to my journey. Over the next few episodes, I will share about learnings, mistakes, and achievements.
↳In the next episode, I will talk about the number 1 rule of perfumery - Know your raw materials.
↳Thank you for listening to the first episode of the podcast "All paths lead to aroma". If you enjoyed it, don't forget to subscribe, share with friends, leave a comment, or send an email to todososcaminhosvaodaraoaroma@gmail.com.
See you next time
